In 1871 Chicago survived the largest urban fire in history, in 1893 Chicago hosted the World's fair that saw the premiere of the telegraph, during the prohibition Chicago survived a reign of terror by the Capone family and rivals. It's a city with a lot of checkered history a lot of pride a lot of darkness and violence and a lot of extraordinary people who made extraordinary innovations. It may not be the world's finest City but it is mine.
