my favourite moment in fashion history : PUNK. There is so much to punk as a subculture and art movement, with roots in Afro-Caribbean culture, Queer culture, the Working Class, and so many other communities that as a whole I can’t list here because there’s so many. As a local London boy, I’m most familiar with the association between punk fashion history and British punk bands like the sex pistols and subversive designers such as Vivienne Westwood. I’ve personally studied and produced a zine on the evolution of punk and on the relationship between protest and punk. This post is a reflection of that research I’ve done.
