"Polyhymnia: Muse of Sacred Hymns"
In my set I included the oldest known written #hymn that we have found in #Greece. It's #lyrics and #music notation written on #papyrus dated about 260 AD. When you translate the words to English this is what it reads:
“Let it be silent
Let the Luminous stars not shine,
Let the winds and all the noisy rivers die down;
And as we hymn the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Let all the powers add “Amen Amen”
Empire, praise always, and glory to #God,
The sole giver of good things, Amen Amen.”
The #church in my picture is one of the oldest Christian churches in Greece still in existence. The Church of Panagia Kapnikarea was built in 1050 AD on top of the r...
