My fav book is "Alea Aquarius". For a lifetime she thought she was highly allergic to cold water until, in a storm, she found out that she wasn't actually allergic and that she was a mermaid. When her foster mother has a heart attack, she sets off on a boat with her new friends to find out more about her mermaid life. However, as in every other story, there is a villain who long ago exterminated the merfolk people and is now after Alea, her friends, and other surviving merfolk. Will alea find her family, can she save the sea people? Will she even survive this dangerous journey herself? ...
