The Rococo Period was marked by overdone opulence. The aristocracy lived in palaces dripping with gold and pearls. Louis XVI was the last French king before the Revolution ushered in his fall. His wife was the infamous Marie Antoinette, whose love of shopping and all things excessive helped to permanently write her name in the annals of fashion history. The ultimate faux pas, the royal family found themselves without heads upon which to showcase their extravagant powder wigs.
