When all the sky is black, And everything is stars, When 10,000ft up looks like space, And the earth disappears in the nightβ¦ Our car is on an interstellar highway. The light from the city, A far away galaxy. The cold thin air, Sucks at our lungs, And everything is beauty. We are but small pinpricks, Barely lighting up the nightβ¦ Consumedβ¦ Cold and bright and eternal, A feeling more than a view. If I looked up, Letting go of the earth, Would I float into the vastness, And drift away? Gravity forgotten with the ground. Written at the Haleakala lookout in Maui.π#stars#hawaii#poetry#discoverme
