the pain passes but the beauty remains / renoir
seeing the vivid and colourful, yet calm life impressionist painters represented is simply touching and certainly makes a mark. it's the time when photography slowly starts to develop and take over the world of art, and this is the movement that tries to grip everything photography couldn't yet capture. that's probably why it feels so full of emotion, and why changes and movement and such representative themes. i think it's a beautiful fact that monet used a little boat as his atelier, trying to catch a moment in his paintings. and the fact renoir painted those huge works with tiny dots, making optical illusions without mixing colours.
