there is actually no such thing as a black panther and the term is usually applied to jaguars and leopards that have a black coat! it is found so widespread because leaopards are found in africa and asia and jaguars are found america! Black coat coloration is attributed to the expression of recessive alleles in leopards and dominant alleles in jaguars.
