-Woman were not allowed to vote until 1960
- unable to have any job they want, restricted from becoming legislators, coroners, magistrates, or judges they were also unable to sit on juries.
- They had to take their husbands last name (normalized but unsual to take the womans last name)
-treated like property, didnt have status during civil wars, couldnt keep their own wages.
