She walks through the field of long dancing grain as the sun sinks into the early evening sky. Horse flies and cicadas buzz all around her and the wind is hot and restless. Little birds are singing good night songs and nestling into their treetop homes. She looks around at the scene and she feels alive in her solitude. Her mind wanders as bits of gold sunlight settle on the edges of things, her brain playing with words to describe the beauty around her…discovering metaphors in the trees and the light and the movement of the breeze. Her sun browned skin radiates warmth as it soaks up the the last low rays before the blanket of night settles in, warm and dark. She has always been a wanderer. ...

@alexa_demies_jawline Thank you do much! I was nervous posting this…I do write poetry, but I rarely write anything else. I love that you caught the peace aspect, that was my goal!❤️❤️❤️
This is impeccable. Your writing style reminds me of older poetry (your way of depicting scenes and storytelling). “She would return to her friends , and they would ask where she’d been. and she would tell them what she saw..and they would hear and be filled with the beauty too.” I love this it encompasses peace, i felt that when I read this. You seem to be a writer, i hope you have more pieces or at least continue to write. You have a talent for it.
@kibbykat amen amen! I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and it helped me accept myself and the way my mind works. Not that you have to have a disorder for this to apply haha. I wish I had found way to more peaceably love myself before the diagnosis too.
@raethemermaid Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah…the struggle is real…as you may have guessed, this describes a bit of my own journey. The blooming into self acceptance and working with my brain instead of trying to fill some idealized version of how a person should be. You start to see your value when you stop fighting with who you are!❤️😊
This was lovely to read. I like how you expressed the angst of wanting to enjoy life but struggling to find how to connect ones inner world with society.
