I LOVE thrifting. It is my modern day treasure hunting. There is something very different about shopping this way compared to buying whatever new clothes are in style at the moment. Thrifting is adventurous and creative! Thrifting embraces uniqueness. It is the very idea of “reducing, reusing, and recycling!” Think about how much waste is created with the need to constantly keep up with fashion! I don’t need someone else to decide what I should be wearing…I am a creator of self. It’s okay to be you, however that looks! You don’t need a box. I only like thrifting if the thrift store has carefully curated the pieces. A place like Goodwill or Salvation Army that takes anything and everything, well, I usually find NOTHING there that I like (not even good books) or absolutely nothing in my size. However, a place like Blessingdales or Buffalo Exchange (two hole in the wall thrift stores in my old town) have so many goodies like vintage dresses from the edwardian period in just my size and genuine 60s hippie outfits that fit me perfectly.
