Although Juneteenth marks the day enslaved Black people found out that they were free in Texas, USA...the 13 amendment still allows slavery to exist today through the United States prison system.
It is important to honor the lives of the enslaved Black people in 1865 & also acknowledge that slavery is still happening today. We must keep fighting to dismantle the very systems put in place to keep Black people down around the world.
